OK part Deaux of the Spinning reel saga. I just purchased a
Shimano Stradic FJ 3000 as my main inshore reel for both fresh and salt. Now need to decide on a rod. I ask here because its near local to me so i feel i can trust others on here to give best advice on similar fishing i do. Currently i have an All Star rod i will be putting it on and i am please with this rod but i am thinking of upgrading ( might ask for a bday or xmas gift). Most of what i read says to go with St. Croix Rods as the best? Suggestions, comments? looking for medium action around 7'.

2 that I like are Shimano's Crucial and Waterloo's Salinity, neither will break the bank, both good quality, decent price . Thing about Waterloo is there made in Texas so I try and Support Texas boys first.they have some higher
End stuff to, custom builds .

Those are all good but my favorites are St Croix Tidemaster 7'6" or Breakaway.

The 3 rods I use the most are St. Croix, Shimano and a Cabela's saltstriker. SS is cheaper and I like it better. My personal choice.

Usually I'm a real big Castaway guy but I bought a Phenix M1 from Roy's a couple months back. That rod is the truth! Runs for 150 and has a no questions asked warranty. Give them a look.

The real question to this as anything else in life, how much do u wanna spend. That a Falcon for 89.99 I mentioned is tremendous and I feel a great price. The Waterloos and St Croixs will be more. I really can't justify spending that much in a spinning rod.

ROY'S had $160 Castaway rods on sale for $99 a week or so ago.
I bought the LineTamer model and it is a great rod.

I'm still using my old Ugly Sticks. Cant seem to get away from them for durability/performance for the price. Don't think I'll ever change.

Same here, a couple of 20 year old ugly sticks that just won't die.
