I decided to take a day off to do some fishing. At the last minute we decided to head out to a close rig and try to find a ling. I grabbed a couple of my surf reels and stuck them on some boat rods and headed out. We got a late start and made it to a close rig around 10:30 am. On the way we stopped in packery and caught a few mullet. We spent a few hours catching some small red snapper, a couple decent lane snapper, and a strawberry grouper which was released. Another boat at the rig spotted two large ling and tried for a while to catch them. After they left we decided to call it a day. I told my brother in law I was going to do a few circles around the rig and see if we spotted them. Sure enough on the first pass they cruised up behind the boat and had no problem devouring a free lined mullet. Heading to beach shortly to see if there is anything going on in the surf.
