My older brother Sam in his custom built 21ft Vannoy wide with hidey hole built by Sidney Vannoy who is the man behind Vannoy skiff. It was built right here in Flourbluff. There were many times it was loaded from bottom to to top with Trout, Redfish, and then drum after Trout and Redfish were outlawed.

Made to carry a load complete with hidey hole.

Vannoy Skiff, a legend around Baffin Bay/Riveria. He was known for his wooden boats. From what I've heard never built two alike. A boat builder that was never happy and always seeking to make the next one even better.

Sound like your brother had a lot of same boatbuilders blood.

The boat in the background sure does look familiar. I swear it's still out there some where. Just can't remember what shoreline that is.

That's the dock right behind the Fishermans fish market. Where the commercial boys run in and out of. Just off Laguna shores rd. I'm sure Buckey and Bubba are close by.

Back in 1970-78, my father in-law had a 16' Vannoy with a 105hp Chrysler OB, ,tuff like a tank and flew!

Never missed that cable-steering and the "smooth-ride" from the cut.Loaded with gas cans. Very Happy

To this day, the smell of fumes brings back these memories!

Sid sure could build a fine wooden boat for sure. I just sold my 16 ft last year. It was supposedly one of the last that he built. Had a 70 Evinrude and sure handled the lagoon just fine in any conditions. I just got tired of sanding and painting it. Fine skiff for sure
