The plan was to hit Dutra for some big pelagic fish. As we were heading to Dutra we ran into a bunch of shrimp boats. We put our spread out and picked up 3 small kings 30, 35, 38 and 3 bonitas. We moved to a different shrimp boat and a monster wahoo slams the AVET HXW Raptor. He peels off the 150 topshot and I keep the drag at strike. I fought him for good 20 minutes and I turned him for a second. But he refused and started peeling line again. At this point my buddy his boat and his reel, decided he wanted to stop him on his tracks, he put the brakes on him by switching to full strike (While I'm fighting the wahoo). 5 seconds later SNAP! All I can do at this point is shake my head. Heartbroken, we decided to continue our journey to Dutra. We started setting up our spread 8 miles out from Dutra. As we started our troll to Dutra porpoise's started following and putting on a show for us. We thought great! 5 Minutes after they left 2 yes 2 6ft blue marlin approached our skirted ballyhoo they looked like snakes on the prowl . It got our blood pumping! One of the 6ft'r hits the AVET HXW Raptor and spits it out. At that same moment the 30W starts to SCREAM! FISH ON! A 7 ft Blue Marlin smashed the skirted ballyhoo it leaped, twisted and danced a tailwalk. On its 3rd leap it spit out the ballyhoo. *SIGH* We regrouped, put out our spread and circled around. At this point we ran into a feeding frenzy of bonita, birds working and right smack in the middle of it was a 12ft hammerhead shark. He had it all to himself. We decided to leave him alone. We pressed on to dutra. Nothing to report at Dutra. So we sent to Falcon. At Falcon we picked up 3 Rainbow Runners immediately. I dropped my vertical jig down about 250 and something smashed it. 10 min into the fight it spit it out. My buddy pulled up a big old Snapper this thing looked ancient. We decided to head back and look for shrimp boats then to shore. Lesson learned. We should have stayed with the shrimp boats a little longer early on. We should've stayed in the area where we saw not 1 but 3 marlin and bonita working. Tight Lines.

| Great report. You got my heart rate up just seeing those marlin and hooking up on the wahoo. And that huge hammerhead, what a treat. |
