My wife, daughter and I went crabbing and fishing off the dock/pier there late afternoon. I was hearing how there were crabs all over the place and flounder and seatrout were being caught. I use gulps and my daughter turkey necks. LOL

We left with no fish and got three crabs. We had fun tho it was still disappointing. No one else was caughting anything but a gaftop and robin fish.

We gave it a try anyway. Cool

The water that just rolled in has thrown off the great fishing we had. It was absolutely on fire about 1-2 weeks ago, but this cold water upwelling and the brown water coming in through packery from the surf has just flat out shut the bite down in that area.

Firday was a total madhouse at just about all the boat launches!
I think everyone with a boat in Corpus Christi went fishing that morning.

Water is a lot better down near Bird Island and crabbing should be better off the pier there where people clean their fish.

I've noticed that the crabs have subsided a bit at my back dock. Several days ago I got 8 crabs in 3 traps. Yesterday I counted only 1 after an overnight soak. After we have a good strong current come in, that should bring in some crabs.

Sorry you had a slow day. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen any fish on the green light either. That's always a good indication of how good the fishing is.

Either that, or cynical. Cool

This cold-water business is downright pitiful.

This is of course rhetorical, but just like deer hunting: If it was always great with Booners running everywhere, the thrill would soon be gone. Similarly, it's that once in a blue moon Birdie that keeps folks coming back to golf!
That happened to me the last game I played, maybe 6-7 years ago if not more. Seemed like a good time to hang it up......

I'm not stopping with the fishing or bowhunting, but honestly don't miss the lack of pleasure and fun to $$$ spent on golf!!!!

we had people come in for quincenera this weekend and I wound up catching 35 crabs off my dock for a boil. I find I have more success with individual crab rings than a big crab trap. Also the trout have been thick on my lights at night. The brown water hasn't made it this far
