I have a friend I haven't seen in more than 15 years.
He got dealt a rough hand a few years back while deployed in the Middle East.
I'm finally going to be able to catch up with him. I was going to take him sharking, but he said he prefer chasing trouts and reds.
Where is somewhere I could take him and he has a good chance at them. I was thinking packery jetties? I haven't fished anywhere besides PINS the past few years.

I think we'll either shore fish or short wade. (Only have one yak and no boat)

It is really hard to say. There are many variables such as wind, weather and tides, etc. If the wind is not blowing, and the water fairly clear and breakers not real high, the surf is a great place to fish for trout and reds, especially early in the mornings this time of year. I like throwing silver spoons, Mirrolures, topwater Spooks, etc for trout. Another good place is the N jetty at Port A. Take the jetty boat across for a day and odds are you will catch some nice trout in the surf side along with other species on live bait or lures. Another good short wade is the Indian Point shoreline if the wind is down. My buddy and I just caught a real nice stringer of trout fishing on that side of CC Bay with him tossing shrimp tail jigs, and me tossing Vudu shrimp or a silver spoon.

take the first road to your left past Corpus Christi pass on the way to Port A .follow it all the way to the water. Wafe fish in that whole area is usually pretty good and the water usually pretty clean. surf will be rough for about the next 4 or 5 days

You got an extra yak here brother. Little frenzy might be tuff in the wind but she still floats. You can borrow it anytime.

Any insight into when you two plan to fish? I'm thinking someone might be willing to take a vet and his friend fishing, but without knowing when it's hard to plan.

The spot Zia mentioned is good.

Any vet that is interested in kayakin and fishing should find a local Heroes On the Water group. They will be fishing in a tournament this Friday!

They're doing pretty well on specks, reds, and flounder at the north jetty in port a. Try a lemon rig with the bait between 5 and 12 feet down. Live shrimp works well. Both sides are producing right now.

I'd recommend catching the first boat out (I think at 630 am) staying out at least noon or so
