When I start the engine - Yammy 115 4-stroke, sometimes it doesn't start peeing for several minutes. It usually does when I engage it into forward. Water pump was replaces last summer. Thoughts? Is this common?

I have a Yamaha 150 4 stroke that did that too. I blew some air through the tube and I guess cleared some blockage out. Works fine now. Might try that.

My 150 does the same thing. If I am going to be idling right after starting it I just put in in neutral and give it some gas real quick and she starts peeing quicker. I haven't looked into it since it hasn't been a problem.

doesnt take much to block the pee hole on these, pretty
common on all motors actually.

If you don't have an air compressor, you might try running a piece of weed eater plastic line up the pee hole to clean it out.

X 2....it's dirt dobber season, and/or you might have a piece of shell blocking it.....always keep a piece of weedeater line on board for this exact purpose....

BUT, also make sure it's dumping out the back and from the lower unit....

I have used heavy mono to clear them out before but have been a little apprehensive about my air compressor. I am not sure how much pressure it is designed to handle. If you hit it with 100 PSI could that cause a problem?

I would be too....that system isn't like a car or truck that is designed for high pressure and heat; it's a simple flow-through system not much over max 25 lbs...BUT, it's an open system, so might only be localized pressure....that would suck to blow a head gasket though....

PLUS, blowing things the wrong direction might not solve the problem, and could make it worse by getting caught up in your thermostat...

another trick is to pull the cowling off, pull the pee hose back through the fitting in the lower cowling and aim it outside the cowling, then turn on the hose and flush the motor....there is a bit of a restriction where the pee hose goes through the lower cowling....sometimes you can feel shells or other obstructions by squishing the hose too, follow it from the end all the way to the head....I have found and broke up dirt dobber nests in my pee hose like that before....

had the same thing happen to my 150 after the water pump was changed, but would overheat if left too long, apparently some aftermarket impellers don't quit fit and don't prime right until some flow over the intakes. A guy at Texas marine told me this and shaved the impeller and works perfect now.
