As is the road block at Zahn Road. So, if you are inclined to make your way in that direction, head to Newport and turn south. The tides are still high, and the 'back lake' is still around from Newport Rd. to Access Rd 3., but driving is good. Now, I'm just waiting for all of the 'stuff' to wash ashore from the most recent floods!!!! Cool

[But prayers out to the multitude of families from Central Texas to Southeast Texas over the weekend..... Just proves the point, Mother Nature is still in charge, Thank You Very Much Al Gore....]

And always will be! Something the Corps of Engineers have yet to learn, or at least admit. People who live in river bottoms and on beaches or barrier islands are leasing from mother nature.....

Thanks for the report, CS. How clear was the water, despite the roughs surf? And zahn road is blocked off AFTER the entrance to the boat ramp, right?

Yes, the road block was up after the turn to the boat ramp.

Water was actually pretty nice, despite the winds and rough surf. Some 'brown plant material', but nothing bad. Incoming tides looked good in the channel, but I can only imagine what the outgoing tide looks like... Crying or Very sad [Not good enough to spearfish, but still good visibility]. But get it while you can, because the tides are turning to major lows during the day, and it ought to sweep lots of the brown, mucky water into the surf.
