Mary went down to McAllen to visit her dad so I went to the beach alone this morning about 8:30 a.m. Driving was rough. Could not even do 10 miles an hour because of the ruts and bumps in the sand. On my way to my spot I passed a group of shark fisherman that spent the night. They must have had about 15 Rods out. Used a sea-doo to run baits out. They said they had one good run and had another bite the line off other than that nothing big.
I get to my spot and set up two rods. One with shrimp and fish bites, until I got tired of catching whiting, then I switched to small pieces of cut bait. The other with larger baits, whole small mullet or croaker or whiting. 2nd Rods never got touched all day.
1st rod got me 8 species. An "American Slam" of redfish, bluefish and whiting as well as hardheads, pompano, skipjack, sheepshead and croaker.
Water was nice and no weeds to contend with. |

Very nice! I love this time of year, and I love the mixed bag reports. Saturday is looking like a real nice day for the surf _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
