|
|
Looking for someone that knows Baffin Bay to go fishing on a boat. I need to gain the knowledge so that I don't rip out my lower unit or sink the boat!
Let me know if interested. Probably head out Sunday if weather permits.
Thanks! _________________ Live to Fish... Fish to Live

Your best bet will be to find a guide to run your boat with you, but even with that you might gain only couple of spots .Really it takes time on the water ,alot of putting around , giving up a little fiberglass to the rocks ,and banging up a few trolling motors, most of all time ,time, and more time unless you find a really really good friend be careful who you trust to run you through the rocks it can be an expensive trip .there are no cheap shortcuts to learning that bay .I've fished that area for a long time and have friends who have fished it longer and we all still find something new every year .Google maps is a very good reference to look at take notes write them down transfer them to your gps by hand when you get out of the channels idle till you learn your "safe "tracks in and out of an area
good luck and roll slow, till you get some tracks on your gps

I would leave ur boat and hire a guide... people who know Baffin well aren't the sharing type as it is one of the last frontiers. If you're an I won't hire a guide type I would get a hot spot map or good mapped gps and put in slowly where the rocks are with your motor trimmed up _________________ But you ain't got no legs Lt. even if you get a guide, they're not going to lay it all out for you...
that's basically like going to a steak house and asking what their recipe is to cook a steak. |

Yea, that's what I was always told when I learned Baffin a very long time ago. Seems you always would pay attention to the dark spots under the water if you kept that statement in your thoughts. No GPS, depth finder
back then. Just listen and follow the directions your were given. Their experience was the best teacher.

Long time Baffin guides still hit rocks every now and then. Run the channel and idle when you leave it. |

as already stated, experience and time on the water are the best tools. I learned by studying google earth, maps, and many days on the water. good luck to you! _________________ Chris |

I will take you. What kind of boat are you running?
I hope the rocks have not moved since the last time I was out there. _________________ Fish HARD or stay home with Mommy! |

Get a Sea Tow (or is it TowBoat US down there?) membership and insurance for the boat. Wear your kill switch. Have fun. _________________ JJ |
