Has any one had deployment issues with the MK Ipilot trolling motors .Like the motor deploys while running on plane from hitting chop etc
.Also the same for the new motorguide remote troller

no experience with those. I did have a hand controlled Minn Kota that after a dock mishap with the in-laws aboard was "repaired". It would switch between forward/reverse while being used. assuming it was a wiring issue

I did on mine, but that was because of the black bracket bumpers that cradle the motor were cracked allowing the black deploy handle to bounce up and unlock the motor. More bouncing caused the motor to deploy into the water. replace the bumpers and have fixed the problem.

Beating through that LM/ICW chop is TOUGH on trolling motors brackets, mounts, what have you. Embarassed

I keep mine secure with a bungee cord. Sure keeps it from bouncing around.

Just replaced the 62" shaft on my hand guided riptide along with the bottom clam shell and the clamp. Hoping to get a few more years out of it. It wasn't hard to do and for less than $100, can't beat it.

I have the iPilot Riptide ST 112 lb. I haven't had an issue yet. But, as I've heard like some of the posts ... the chops can beat the black plastic base and eventually crack the securing mechanism. Securing it down with a strap sounds like a great idea! I'll have to start doing that!
