|
|
Hey guys, I wa thinking of heading over to the Red Dot this evening to see if I can have any luck. I've never really fished this time of year, is evening and night a decent time to try throwing some lines off over there? I was planning to toss a couple of rods with live shrimp and then use my shiny new bait cast to try some jigs in the flats behind and along the pier.
Thoughts? |

Usually this time of year the fish come out from the depths and onto the flats during the warmer days in the afternoon. But February/March is a great time to fish red dot when the big black drum start running _________________ "I never had an Easter, but I've always had a bunch of speakers" - Beardo |

Thanks jerry, that's great info!
So if I decide to go ahead and go to the pier (I don't have a boat or kayak yet ) I should just throw out into the deep water? |

Yeah man throw some shrimp and fishbites in that deep water and you should at least catch something! _________________ "I never had an Easter, but I've always had a bunch of speakers" - Beardo |

You could also try some blue crab or sea lice in the channel. They are also having a black drum tourney right now to add to the excitement. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

I would fish Blue Crabs on my big poles and fresh Shrimp, Fishbites on my bait rods. Whiting make good fish tacos .
Good luck and Good Fishing. |

Might be time to use something that "perch" won't bother, like one of them or artificials. _________________ Dave
