Was cruising 30-35 in the middle of the Sailboat Channel Saturday and had a guy on the bank chunk a 4oz pyramid on a leader with no bait on the hook and hit my customer. He had a jacket on but still put a pretty nasty bruise and two small punctures just above the back of his elbow. The consensus on the boat was that it was intentional. My initial reaction was to go back and whip some tail. Decided not to take the law into my own hands. I called TPWD. By the time they showed he was gone. He was an older fella in a red/maroon Chevy? with a campershell. Shell was white/silver with gold in the middle. My customers took a look Sunday on their way home to Kerrville. I went to AP yesterday didnt see him going or coming. Here's the picture of his swollen arm.

Saw the POS recently. Followed him to a stop got out and took pictures and called Game Warden back and text pics. Mike (GW) acted like what do you want me to do.

Not good. if that would have hit someone in the head it would most likely be lights out.

Capt. Frankie, where is the Sailboat channel"? Unfortunately, there are stupid fisherman. Maybe a photo of the perpetrator might help, if it ever happens again. I guess you were in "his spot" or at least his channel? Exclamation

Why does it have to be an act of stupidity or a perpetrator? I am not justifying what happened but odds are it was probably an accident. However, if he was intentionally aiming for someone on a boat traveling 30-35, then that's a hell of a shot and precise timing.....

Come to think about it, if it's his channel then he will be back there and TPWL will hopefully be looking for him when he does. He may have just terminated his "rights" to his channel. Smile

You dont throw your line at a boat, ever! That was purely on purpose. I had a incident giging one night last december coming down packery by the S turn heading back to billings. Group of idiots on the bank purposely tried to hit the boat with myself and 2 military vets on both (both carrying 45ACPs). I pulled the boat to a slow, but we decided it wasnt worth the mess. I bank fish and I have my boat. I dont throw anything at a boat and I give bank fishermen as much room as safely possible. You could be charged with assult very quickly.

Way better person than me. Kudos to not going back and using him as an anchor.

Exactly my thoughts. People say they would do it but never heard of anyone doing it until now.

Close or not this should never be done by anyone!

I have had the same experience going through the humble channel. I was idling as slow as my boat could go to pay respect to people fishing from the piers from both sides. Going through the channel I see a older guy wind back looking straight at my boat a chunked a weight with no hook right at my boat. The weight hit the console of the boat leaving a pretty good size chunk chipped off the gel coat. A group of the celebrated as if it was some type of game. Words cant describe the anger of low life's like this.

Never been hit but it happens all the time going through Packery. I stay as far as possible to the outside bank. There is always some POS tryng to cast as far as he can right in front of the boat.
Sorry to hear about what happened. The ignorant fools will show there face again

Ridiculous, I bet that hurt. So did the weight bounce back out? I guess once could grab the weigh, tie it real quick, and floor it. Burn out their drag or at least spool them.

Man it's a good thing there were no hooks on the line or it could have been way worse, even though it was bad enough. It could of been an eyeball instead of an arm. What's wrong with people these days?
