This years sharkathon started with a new plan. We decided we would slow roll down the beach and fish the holes along the way. We did that between the small showers and only caught bait. made it to about the 32 and decided to turn around and set up at the 28. Driving conditions were not great and we pulled one person out that was stuck in the high road....which happened to be the only road.

We set up camp and I have to say it was one of our best so far

As far as fishing goes, we swam out baits and casted baits with no luck. I did catch this 24 inch red on a gold spoon so the weekend wasn't a complete skunk.

When the squall blew in Saturday evening, we decided to pack it in and drive out. An adventure of its own. 3 hours to drive 28 miles and then a trip on the Ferry to AP. Arrived home at 1 a.m. The tents and EZ up survived unfortunately we lost my ambassadeur 7000 on a Tica rod in the surf and brother lost his Penn 9/0 with green mono on an 8 or ten ft rod on the drive in Saturday night. Also lost the top sections to 3 2 piece rods.

This was me and my brother's ninth Sharkathon. Over the years, we have brought my son, my dad (who unfortunately passed away in February), and our friend, Rick the last 2 years. This was another good one. If I judged them by conditions and catches, I would have quit coming long ago. Instead I judge them by fellowship, being on the beach, and still being able to participate in something a lot of people don't do or understand.

PS. If you found a rod and reel let me know.
