Recently I was trying to find an inexpensive light galvanized trailer with adjustable bunks in Corpus Christi. It was harder than I thought it would be. I talked to all of the dealers in town and they did not have anything. The only thing they would consider was bringing them the boat and they would have one built out of aluminum. I went out of town to Portland, Aransas Pass, PA and Rockport. Nothing under $2800.00 for a light 18' boat. Even Victoria, nothing. I ended up in Edna Texas and picked up an aluminum with adjustable bunks, torsion axle and side guides. Great people up there. The price was under $2,000.00 for a quality product.

It almost seemed like trailers were a bother for the local dealers. That's a shame. In the good old days, Padre Island Supply had them stacked up outside.

I'm thinking seriously of getting a new aluminum tandem for a 23' foot hull. A
suggestions on preferred builders near CC would be appreciated.

Rick Kresta builds trailers for Majek. May be a little ways away, but they were the only one that actually took an interest in my money.

Not as much demand for aluminum trailers. Hard to compete with Academy and others for galvanized. Might give the guy at Holiday Beach out of Rockport a call as he builds from frame up. Wish I had a name and/or # but maybe someone will know.

Thanks for the encouragement Borntofish, I'll look into Rick's interest in building me a trailer. I bought my last Yamaha from Bennie's in Victoria, so they may be able to give me some insight into his business, and it's not a bad drive over there.

Bayfly,

Kresta Boats and Motors is the business. The trailers he builds are 5th Lake. They have a pretty good website. If you can take your boat somewhere here you might have better luck than I did. Be prepared for a 3 to 4 thousand dollar bill.

Good luck
