Would someone please update me on the weed status for Mustang Island? I am going no matter what, but would like to have a general idea of what to expect. All reports I have read are appreciated, just somewhat out of date(last week). Unless I missed one. Thanks. And thank you all for your posts and reports. Hope to have one for this trip better than the getting spooled twice last time.

I fished the surf a mile south of Packery today. Weed is bad, you can wade out to second bar and fish. You won't be able to fish from the beach unless something changes. Tons of bait in the surf and slot reds caught off the jetty's. I caught nice gaftops but got beat up standing in the surf. I had fun and I bet you will too. Good luck and tight lines!

We are at the tail end of a five nite stay and I don't wanna go home. Hope you have fun, and bring a cast net to catch bait in the surf. We have been able to catch any size mullet you prefer in a few throws.
