|

All these boats are from Houma and Hopedale, LA and east to southwest FL and further out to South Carolina...
Can I hear some testimonials from Texas technical poling skiff owners on how you can do the same stuff here...I just need a little convincing. I'm looking hard for a Gheenoe or micro skiff under 10K...and I'll likely have to make the drive to find one..I-10 EAST. _________________ Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. I can't speak to the other brands, but this is one I just finished building. Hopefully will be able to launch on it's maiden voyage Saturday. Boat is a Bayou Jubilee hull design by Spira International and my top deck design.
copy the link, it should work.
I couldn't figure out how to insert an image.

I need permission to view the picture in your link. Can you post the picture elsewhere? Imgur is a simple image host/upload site.
No Ankona, Hells Bay, East Cape, Mitzi, Terrapin, Maverick, Beavertail boat owners out in the LLM? _________________ Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

yeah, we have an East Cape in the fold, and delliott has a nice mitzi on the back deck....if you're into shallow water sight casting, then about all makes and models of what you just listed are all good skiffs.....
good luck in your search...there are a few used ones to be found around here close to that price range....

| On the Gheenoe, I recommend the one with the wide transom. I had a 15'4" with the narrow transom. It run out great with the 5hp Mariner although was not stable enough for me to stand and pole...........cC |

Finally figured out the photo thing. Here is the Bayou Jubilee, 18'6", 63" beam, 25hp flat bottom/ Supposed to be easy to pole because it's narrow. Dry hull weight about 750# with the motor. |

Nice looking boat, enjoy it. Do you plan on putting a poling platform over the motor or just stack two coolers for that? haha _________________ Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

Can't beat simplicity. Love your rub rail Borntofish. There have been a lot of great skiffs built along the Gulf coast over the years. 18 feet, 750 lbs., and a 25 hp motor, that's a skinny floating rig! Enjoy! |

I was going to try poling off of one cooler and if that doesn't work I may put a platform. I have to see how she rides and planes.
As for the rub rail, I tried a rubber material first. It didn't look so hot. I figured if I didn't like the rope I could always change it.
By the way, when I did stack 2 coolers I couldn't step up there. It's really slippery too!
Jeff89, there is someone local that has an Ankona. I have seen it twice. Hopefully he reads the forum. |

| For 10k why don't you just look for a used Maveric? |

You have a Maverick at 10K you're ready to sell? haha
I'll be ready next spring to pull the trigger. I'll use the next few months to figure out what a good deal looks like. I honestly expect to go to FL to get the skiff, but if it's in TX, it'll be that much sweeter. (Although I could easily make a fishing trip out of the pick up and purchase trip) _________________ Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

I sold my 17 pathfinder earlier this year it was a great boat would have kept it but the boss would only allow one boat the only reason I sold it was to get a boat big enough to guide out of. poling skiffs are great boats but if you buy one with out a tunnel it can be disappointing in the shallow water get up and out dept I have seen a few used pathfinder17ts and mav hpx tunnels in the valley for sale you can usually find a pathy for less than 10k in good shape good luck _________________ EAT,SLEEP,BREATHE,FISHING |

| Jeff89, I encourage you to visit 2coolfishing.com to view their classified ads, because there is a Florida skiff or two on there every now and then, and they are generally slightly used. Most seem to thank that's what they want, and change their mind after a short while. |
