Depends on whether you are talking surf or bays as well. Anytime the finger mullet are in the surf is a good time to get slot reds. Later in the fall down here is when we get the Bulls more often. It starts earlier on the Upper Coast. That being said Bull reds are there all year in the surf as evidenced by the nice run of them off of Bob Hall Pier after that rough tropical weather a couple of weeks ago. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Just remember, the surf reds take weekends off - especially at Packery, so don't waste your time out there. |

| Last year I caught my biggest red drum (41 inches, 28 pounds) at the end of September. But then again we were not having crazy cold fronts the first two weeks in September either. I fished Monday and the water temp was 74 degrees until much later in the afternoon. The day before it was 86 degrees. With these sort of random changes, I'm hoping that the bite comes back this weekend. |
