You know, I love the open water, even when it's dirty or windy. I REALLY love the open gulf when it's still and clear. Wednesday the gulf revealed it's more beautiful side for me and I took full advantage of the offer. You guys really need to experience (on a good day) the gulf from a kayak. The workout is great and the experience can be outstanding!

| Just wondering how far out to the rigs and how long does it take you to paddle out there typically? I don't want to know your honey hole, just an idea. |

The closest rigs around are 1.5 miles or so, and can take from 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on winds and the seas.
The rigs in clearer water are farther out, from 4 to 7 miles. Those can take from an hour and a half to whatever you're willing to paddle, but they're worth a little work. |

| I enjoyed the report and video. A awesome day on the water. Boy. I wish the water up here on the upper cost looked like yours down there. |

I know the Professor caught many nice fish. In a kayak where do you keep such monsters or is a catch and release?
Is this the Professor from the TAMUCC university or is that another dude? |

Michael, that must be another dude... I'm a professor at Del Mar college.
I do release fish, but only after I get my limit on ice in the fishbag. It rides behind my seat and can hold quite a bit of cargo. Finding room for a mess of fish on a kayak requires forethought and planning, but it can be done! |
