| South of Bob Hall Pier is good. If you have 4x4 you can try going down PINS. |

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to have to buy some tackle big enough to handle the surf!
Any spots in-shore you know of? |

plain ol bass tackle will cover 90% of what'cha can cast to...
up-grade as you learn.
I have friends from here who are happy catching whiting and the occasional red and drum from the wade gut....

Very good advice there brother! i have never fished the surf or jetties with "surf tackle" and do just fine. A good % of those fishing both places are casting past to WAY past the fish..... Not saying that surf rods and such don't have there place, just stating a simple fact. A longer rod is nice at times while jetty fishing because you can drop down into the holes in the rocks instead of at an angle, getting fewer snags. Still......
When I was a kid fishing down there we never used anything heavier than 12 pound test, and we heaved many a fish over the railing at BHP, those at the NAS, assorted jetties and the surf. _________________ Dave

When you get ready to upgrade a visit to see Nick Meyer over at Breakaway is in order. In fact to get good rigs, a visit is in order. Darn fine guy, but he talks funny. _________________ Gary J

Yeah - just like a couple buds of mine - one from England and the other is an Aussie. They both say I talk funny - always "Fixin to do something" _________________ Gary J

Time of day and tides are more important than where! fish feed when the water is moving.
If you have light tackle I would free line live bait or a jig with a gulp 3" new penny on the North Jetty or Packery Channel Jetty during the cooler parts of the Day
Fish a deeper wade gut point or hole with a spoon, white mirror lure , live bait, fresh dead shrimp or fish bites on a Carolina Rig. fish for 30 minutes if no luck move to the next hole.
Hunt the beach looking for signs of feeding fish
Fish the 1st or 2nd gut at night under the lights from Bob Hall pier.
Free line perch.
