|
|
We have an offshore trip leaving Port Mansfield on Monday August 18th, but will be in town on Sunday morning. I wanted to go fish the South Jetty but have never been on that side and I am not familiar with the roads leading to the beach. Any and all directions with street names would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Come out & gig some flounder with Straight to The Point Guide Service!! http://floundergiggin.com/ for more info

Google map if and you'll see. You either drive north from South Padre or take a boat. There is only one road. _________________ But you ain't got no legs Lt. Dan, I know that |

Ok, well I may just have to pull my boat. Sounds like a head-ache otherwise. _________________ Come out & gig some flounder with Straight to The Point Guide Service!! http://floundergiggin.com/ for more info

Yep!
Depending on where you are, you are looking at 150+- miles to South Padre and then a 30 mile drive up the beach.
A boat from Port Mansfield is much better. _________________

You can fish the south jetty If you want, but the north jetty is better and is more protected from the S/E wind.
PS You better check the weather. It doesn't look too good for this weekend. _________________ Off Shore Port Mansfield |

I know, I have fished the north Jetty plenty of times. The only reason I was asking was bc I will be in the town of Port Mansfield, not on the beach. I didn't realize it was so far of a drive to hit the beach. No biggie, already gettin my boat ready. Gna have to go tear up some flounder I guess while I'm there. And fish around the jetties as well. _________________ Come out & gig some flounder with Straight to The Point Guide Service!! http://floundergiggin.com/ for more info

Oops! About 80 miles from Port Mansfield to South Padre. I gave 150+- as from Corpus area. Still closer by boat. _________________

| A long way to get to the south jetty. Driving, you will have to drive off to south padre and come back up the beach to the south jetty. It is really a long way. I have not done it in years, although it was comparable fishing to what we fished off of the north side. Best of luck.........cC |

By boat from Port Mansfield your looking at about a 6 mile boat ride, love that ride. There are some awesome sand dunes on the right when you get into the channel, the kids love getting off there and sliding down them. _________________ Shallow Sportn' it |
