By chance did you notice if there was still too much weed to allow long lines to sit for more than 5 minutes without getting weeded out?

It looked like it would last longer than five minutes but depends on how strong the current is.

I went the Thursday before last and it didn't look as bad as it really was. The current was going north at a slowish pace. Every time I would cast out, walk it back in, put it in the pole holder, and within minutes it was already dragging my surf weight from the weed stacking up on it my leader (and I have good weights). Anyway I was thinking about trying again today minus the getting weeded out part. Thanks for the input though.

We were at marker 84 on Mustang Island today and the wade gut was full of weed. Absolutely no way to put a rod in a holder.

If you were willing to stand on the bar and throw into the first gut you could manage about 10 minutes before either weed or hard heads got you. Slow current going north that you would hardly notice if not for the weed.

It was getting better as the day went on and while I was standing out there a nice size black drum cruised by me.
