Drifting the Backyard with my daughter as I type this. We fished the BY two weeks ago and managed a single dink speck out of the brown tide.

Not looking for honeyholes or specific locations, but if anyone can point me in the right direction--how far north or south we have I go to find clearer water, it's greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The ship channel brings wonderful fresh water north of the Backyard. A buddy of mine mentioned there were some sightings of schools of black drum in the IC waterway north of CC Bay.

That was a week ago. Can anyone confirm they are still around?

To update, we found better looking water in the Boat Hole this morning. But no fish drifting plastics/Gulps.

Lots of boats on the water today. Neighbor said big tourney out of Bluffs Landing was today. Etiquette was evident--we didn't have any drifts cut or any other issues.

Hey Sean,
If you fish the boat hole area, use a trolling motor to fish the edges of all the channels there. The power lines about midway between the shoreline and the ICW has been ok for reds and drum.

Ovaforty, good to hear from you my friend. Thank you for the tip. Motherboard on the trolling motor is being repaired.

Dropoffs are a good thing. Saw lots of waders and boats anchored on the edge of the ICW this morning between JFK and the south side of CC Bay.
