| Pulled carpet from a room and replacing with ceramic tile 13 x 13". First timer here. Room size 10x12. Purchased so far: 50 lbs mortar, 25 lbs. grout, 8 boxes of tiles, 1/4" slot floor trowel, grout boost, grouting sponge, 200 1/4 spacers, and a grout float. Any tips? |

Definitely knee pads and picked up a mixer as well. Here is the finished project. One room down, three to go. Time-saving observations: clean mortar between tiles before dry 2. Have a second person wipe excessive grout from tiles soon after it is down 3. Buy, rent or borrow a good water tile cutter. I used a small electric tile cutter, and it did the job. Will def invest in a heavy duty unit before tackling the other rooms. Lots of work and hard on the back and knees for sure.[img] [/img] |

A job well done! Yeah, at the end of the day, gotta give the love to the people that do this type of work for a living. But, knowing you accomplished this, every day you get to appreciate the work...you get an at-a-boy!!
Now, don't procrastinate and clean up all the "leftover items" _________________

| that grout is going to be hard to keep clean, hit me up when you need a floor scrubber to get it back to that nice white color. |

| Turned out lighter than what we thought. Will likely go darker in the other rooms and possibly regrout this room, which would totally be a pain. The main living areas of the house are a different tile, and we wanted the tiles in the bedrooms to match grout and all. May have to rethink that. Thinking about transitioning from the hallway tiles to the bedroom tiles by using an oak threshold, so that may let a different color grout be ok. |

You can get dye for it that you brush on and it soaks in permanently. Check lowes and home depot online. I'm going to do that in a room where we put in grout that was 2 lite also. I recommend an "earth" color or darker or a dark gray. I found that foot traffic is going to turn it "earth" color anyway with use. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!
