Went fishing with a friend, and her spinning reel got tangled up (the line got under the spinning collar and wraped itself around the gears). In our younger days, this would have ended our trip. But we're older, and stubborn, and have fought with sewing machines for years, so we took that thing apart and fixed it.
Still, it makes me wonder if die-hard fishermen carry spare reels (not just extra line) in their tackle boxes, for those times when you cant fix it yourself out on the water. Maybe a compact pocket pole, too? What other "save the trip" goodies do they carry besides extra hooks/leaders/weightst?
I suppose I'll eventually have to buy a real tackle box, and not one that used to be a sewing kit. LOL |

| Extra spool for sure. If line is a mess, or if you get spooled (good for you) just put on spare. And yes, I have a spare reel in my tackle box. |

I agree with the back up rods and reelz..... I always got 3. I'm not taking a Shimano Stradic apart in the boat. That's a table top job with lights and bi-focals.... _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
