I fished today for a little more than 3 hours at the South Packery Jetty. It was very windy and quite rough on the surf side. Seaweed was present, but very fishable. I fished the channel side and first tried live shrimp on bottom and could manage nothing but Hardheads and Gafftops. I then switched to a lemon rig and caught two Snook, 14" & 17" (released), one 24" Black Drum, one 23" Redfish and several undersized Reds.

All my lemon rig leaders are between 5' to 6.5' drops, so I'm usually fishing 10'-13' deep. These fish were about 12' deep. I've done very well with them lately and have landed numerous Reds and Jacks in the past month on them fishing with shrimp and mullet. |

Any chance you could post a photo of the lemon rig set up? I'm still kinda clueless how to cast them despite doin a little research _________________ Be Good and Good Luck |

Casting these isn't difficult compared to casting a traditional bobber/float while trying to fish 10'+ deep. Since these are rigged using a three-way swivel with two drops the length of your leader is cut in half. I keep a little slack in my line to allow it to sink to depth. I prefer to use about 40lb mono leader material. One drop is just your hook of choice with a few split shots and the other drop goes straight to the lemon juice bottle. Both drops are usually equal length. I tie the bottle drop to a bead after I run the mono through a small hole in the top that's shown in the picture. I fill the bottle a little less than half with water. Depending on the length you make your drops your rod length can help in casting these as well.

| I just go to the street in front of my house and add some pea gravel in my lemons. Rattle + cheap weight = winnning. |
