Extremely windy today out on the water. The water was really stirred up and brown. There was a lot of activity but nothing was biting our bait. We finally caught a keeper trout and it spit up what looked like a shad so we are guessing that is what they were feeding on out there. My dad snagged a good size cownose ray, there was a ton of them out there today. Like the saying goes, " A bad day of fishing beats a good day at the office" and that was the truth today. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Not saying that it wasn't windy, but it looks to me like just another average day on the coastal bend. Wink A non windy day down there isn't exactly rare of course, but doesn't happen that often. When I was a kid we would go fishing after dark many times, because of the heat. If the fishing was good we would stay all night and fish through sunrise. The lightest the seabreeze would get even then was usually about 5-8, but as always with a seabreeze it would crank back up quickly with the heating of the land.

sustained winds were around 17 with gusts to 30 yesterday.... the problem was, it never seemed to stop gusting.

we found some nice redfish up north of the JFK yesterday, and there are still a ton of drum up there.... water is better up north too.
