| Pretty cool vid. I do have a question. I thought it was.mandatory to wear a pfd while yakking, unlike a power boat where you just have to have one readily available. |

Not mandatory to be on, just need it accessible. I got stopped by a pair of wardens near the ICW last year. My life jacket was on the bow of the kayak under the elastic straps. They said that was fine. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

A good link with the boating law summaries. Kayaks have the same laws regarding pfd's as small boats. BUT on PWC's (kayaks are not classified as personal watercraft because they don't have motors) you are required to wear them. But I'm with you RedSniper, I wear all the time BTB and also on sloppy days in the bay or at night.

Good call. Those non-waterproof ones don't work very well. |

Nice video.
I learned some stuff from your video. After a few more of these videos I might go out and get my own kayak.
I look forward to your next episode. |

Thanks! some of the guys helping me out think we can get through the first 4 episodes in 4 months....So 1 episode per month is our goal. I'll be putting out some basic crate rigging and more camera mounting info in between the fishing.

PFD only required to be worn under age 13. Otherwise must be readily accessible and a fit for the user. (Child PFD for an adult for example)
It's the "accessible" part that jams up most folks. If it's inside a hatch, still in the plastic or out of reach from your seat, it's NOT accessible.
Usable condition is also required. Broken buckles, torn, etc is a no-go. |
