Guides are going to love this. Will get a limit of trout and reds and be back home for lunch. Either that or book two groups per day. Even at that, I still, do not want to be a guide.

Guess you didn't listen to the commission meeting, one of the commissioners quoting a letter from the Coastal Bend Guides Association stated that there was "no science behind the move" and he asked the Coastal Fisheries Representative if that was true and they presented a slide showing falling numbers for the last 3 years and they also stated the recruitment numbers have also fallen so they fully expect the gill net surveys to continue to slide downward. During the comment period the one speaker against the proposal was the spokesman for the guides association and he admitted that he wasn't aware of the science behind the move until what he saw what was presented during the meeting. FYI the final numbers on public comment were, 1820 for and 706 against the change and a bunch of the against comments were because they wanted the change state wide so they were still wanting a change. Also fyi, the commission change the original proposal and starting Sept 1, everywhere that has the 5 fish limit will now have a 10 fish possession limit. One last thing, the sunset provision states the limits will revert back to the current limits in 5 years unless the commission re approves the changes.

pretty good synopsis, I listened too....although the LLM will continue to have a 5 fish possession limit after the changes, and above the cutoff at sergeant will remain a 20 fish possession limit....

almost positive I heard a commissioner ask if the possession limit will change to 10 in llm and Lance said yes. My understanding the reason they had it at 5 down their was strictly because of enforcement issues which will now go away with the change. I'll see if I can get some clarification on that.

yeah, I'm not sure they addressed that.....they might have messed that motion up.....I'm betting they weren't paying attention....

be a surprise victory for those in the LLM....

Just confirmed with information director at TPWD, possession limit will be 10 in the llm starting Sept 1. I think it was all worked out in the work shop sessions yesterday. Like I said before the enforcement issue will no longer be a issue down there.
