				| I'm going to work up a load for a 5.56/.223. Anyone willing to give me a head start by sharing what they have been successful with? Appreciate any help. | |

				| I loaded some .223 with 60gr sierra hp's. Accurate 2200 powder is the best. Winchester primer. I forgot the charge since its been a while, I'll see if I can find it... Very accurate and powerful overall.
**Best charge 22.8 gr of AA 2200

I don't trust internet forum load data without checking it against reliable sources. The load books from Noalser, Hornady, Sierra, etc. are also good but not free. Nosler has some load data on their web site.

My best 223 accuracy (and I'm not alone based on my conversations on hunting and reloading forums) has been with Varget and the new CFE223, but there are several good powders around for this cartridge.

Without knowing your intended use (target, varmint, medium game, self defense, plinking, etc.), bullet weight, and rifle twist rate, we can't really recommend much.

				| Times 2 on Varget. Versatile stuff too. Kind of expensive tho. | |

Not trying to be a smarta$$ but those kind of require different bullet weights and construction. While you CAN shoot hogs with varmint weight bullets, I'd recommend heavy bullets for them and light bullets for varmints. You can get away with 55FMJ and head shots on hogs, but the 75-77 grain match bullets work better IMO. For varmints the 40-55 grain bullets are ideal. The light bullets in .223 just expand too fast to get to the vitals on bigger pigs.

I use the 77 grain match or 64 grain Nosler bonded bullet for bigger game and 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip for varmints up to coyote sized critters.

Varget works great in both weights but it doesn't flow well through powder measures so high volume loading it tedious. CFE223 is MUCH nicer in that regard.

				| Thanks CDKnives. I guess that I should have explained that I knew I was looking at two different loads: one in the 55 grain bullet and one with something heavier. I'm not familiar with the second powder that you mentioned. Who manufacturers it? | |

				| CFE223 is a relatively new powder from Hodgdon, designed for the 223 and includes an ingredient (likely tin) to reduce copper fouling.

				| 24.0 varget with 77SMK loaded OAL 2.260. I have shot this load in many 1-8 barrels and it shoots sub MOA all the way to 500 yards in all of them. | |
