I was planning on it but I blew a disk in my lower back. Since I had to have it surgically repaired. No off-shore for me till middle of February. Especially with the pressures a 100# tuna will put on you.

Better part of 700.00...actually on a per days basis more expensive than the San Diego long range trips on really comfortable boats, staterooms and great food...With that said, I wanted to try one of these trips, and the weather window seemed to be in a rare "open" position. Hopefully a successful report to follow.

Thanks for the info. That's a lot of Jack, but if you had a good trip and caught lots of tuna and such, it would be well worth it! At what they sell for it wouldn't take long to get to $700, and the experience is a bonus! Very Happy

From a return on investment standpoint it does not take much. Here is one link to $37 a pound YFT. http://www.amazon.com/2-lbs-yellow-fin-tuna-steaks/dp/B0000UJAWO?SubscriptionId=02GQVS71YF4ES2PRF802&tag=seafood-fish-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B0000UJAWO

Though as noted it is about the experience. Another way to look at it is what does a charter for 8 hours with an inshore guide cost...$400-600...I guess it is all relative. (relatively expensive Shocked )

You hit the nail on the head pal!!!! I've never been able to justify a charter trip for just myself or one more even though I would LOVE to go with Capt. Mike or a number of other guides in other areas sometime just to learn a ton and enjoy the day. That doesn't mean that guides are too expensive, not in the least. It's just a big chunk of change for us poor folks!!!Embarassed

Considering the high possibility of what's in the ice chest at the end of an inshore trip relative to a tuna trip......... I could probably keep all I wanted for my freezer and sell the rest up here in Little Rock and pay for my trip on the latter!!!!Shocked Very Happy

So spent some time today putting reels on rods, and replacing topshots. One thing about "big trips" is the anticipation is almost the price of admission. Stopping by Roys tommorow for some last minute shopping and/or advice. Offshore weather forecast looks real good! Come on tuna!

Best of luck on the trip, I'm one jealous puppy!!!! Embarassed

56 hours is what it is listed as. Though actual duration is limited by fish box capacity. Trips are cut short when the box is full....
