Well we finally had our first decent front and as usual I am complaining at the launch about how cold it is. I love my summer heat, its the cold I cant handle. Either way the thought of big trout is driving me to the water.

Launch around 7 with Wildman (Robert, Bobby, weather bringer, Lightning attractant) and Cannonman (Ben)....

It was slow going at first. I started out with a pink/chrome spook jr. It took a slow but steady click..click..click..click to get them to hit.

At the end of the first drift I had 5 keeper trout to my name on topwaters 15-18 inches in length.

The topwater bite just died around 9AM so it was time to fish a little deeper. Bomber makes a great version of my favorite lipped minnow. Looks almost like a crystal minnow by yozuri but doesn't dive as deep which was perfect for the 3-4' of water with a grass bottom I was fishing.

It pulled in a few more at 15" nothing special.

Wildman starts catching some keepers. Ben meets back up with us and he already has a Red-Sheepshead-Trout slam going on.

We paddle back to make another drift and ben decides to head in. Tells me that the rattle trap is whats been working. I dont have a rattle trap but I did have a loud little lure I could throw.

The only problem is my buddy Ryan told me to throw it last night and I hate when he's right.

I tied on a Unfair lures Rip-n-slash and casted that sucker out. It hits the water and I see a swirl on the surface followed by a little tick on the rod. Take in the slack and set the hook..*THRASH THRASH THRASH* Big trout head comes up! Tail in the air it starts slapping the water trying to get off.

Wildman heard me hollering from over half a mile away and starts paddling over. I finally get it in the net and I take a big sigh of relief. Big trout in the kayak.

This beast taped out at 29.5 inches with a big ole gut! I got her unhooked and took the pics I needed for a online trout tournament. We tried to revive her for a while but she wasnt having it. On the stringer she goes.

Wildman has the shots on a ruler so I have to wait for him to send those. SEND THEM BOBBY! I know you can read this!

Well we continued to fish for a while longer and managed another trout or two but the bite was pretty much over at that point. Called it a day and came in to enjoy lunch and the rest of this awesome day.

Nice fish. When a lure hits the water and you get that swirl action nearby, you just know something is fixing to happen.
