After working hard last year to learn the sport at the urging of my two boys i finally broke the ice with my bow. Shot a spike Saturday morning and I must say i was as worked up and shaken as if i just shot a 140. I'm definatly hooked. The adrenaline rush of letting that arrow fly is incredible.
Saturday evening i went back out with the intent of shooting a doe. I did see quite a few but I saw a 130 class buck hanging back in the woods behing them but he never would come out and I just could not talk myself into shooting one of the does with him hanging around.
All in all a beautiful weekend to be at the farm. We even have a little water in our ponds now. It was one of the rare occurances where it was just me and the wife with no kids around. Steaks and cocktails around the fire was as relaxing a time as I have had in a long time. Lord knows I love it when my kids are there but it is nice to have an "adults only" weekend from time to time. It was long over due. |

Congrats on that first one with the bow!!! That is awesome! My first one was a ugly mangy looking doe with warts on her nose but I couldn't have been happier! That was about 30 years ago and I still remember it! Its definately a rush and addictive!
I love kids but those adult weekends are great! Glad you had a good one! |
