New to this board, thought I would share a report...even if it's not a great one.
Gigged Aransas bay area last night, covered lots of nice water, but saw very few fish. We tried grass, mud, and sand areas. Headed home with no fish in the box, but still had a great time. Nice night to be out of the bay, with great conditions.
Hopefully more fish next time... |

I hit Packery channel last Friday night. Floundered from the bridge down to the park area. Not one flat fish in the boat. Saw about eight that went about 8" and one that went about 12". No empty beds of big boys either. The run has started in some areas evidently, but not in my neck of the woods yet. Can't wait til they do. Seeing that 7 pounder posted the other day makes me want some baked flat fish.
Better luck next time to us both. |

3 of us did some wade gigging along Corpus bay last night. We only saw one keeper flattie around 19" which we gigged. Saw a bunch of small ones in the 6"-10" range. Hope it picks up real soon.

| Since this looks to be the "flounder lounge" section...I went this past Saturday before the front came in and saw one bed that looked like it would have been a pretty solid fish. I saw 3 small flounder, 2 were probably about 5" and the other one may have been about 8". I also saw quite a few small rays about 5"-8". So those of us who don't wear ray guards be careful. I'm gonna give a new spot a try tonight with a buddy coming in town from New York. I'll post if we do anything worth doing. Oh yeah I was on the backside of Mustang state park. |

| I will say that next year will be very promising. From what I have learned from Chester Moore and people like him is that flounder ususally come back to their homes, or stay in the general area they call "home". So all these undersize fish we are seeing at packary and around corpus will be mature and legal size in a year probably. Ive heard the flounder have good years and slow years. This year has definatly been slower in this area overall. I too have seens droves of small 10" and below kiddos for the last several months. The big ones are out there, just have to keep searching new ground. |

| Well I went to my new what an acquaintance swore was an awesome spot trying to get my fill of flounder with my buddy that came in town from the place where a pack of cigs costs around 14$. We sure as heck didn't stab anything but did see a decent amount of smaller ones. There was only one that may have been a keeper but I didn't want to stab him for I wasn't sure if he was even big enough. Last year I got used to only finding them over 18 or 19" and I just got used to not considering anything under 15 or 16". It's kind of like eye balling trout. Anyway we worked a lot of area and saw a couple smaller beds along with the small flounder. Conditions were less than favorable, especially for where we were. We went to port a to a place with lots and lots of current, the wind really made the top of the water difficult to see through. I have a feeling this area will be extremely promising in the following weeks/months. There's only one person posting on this board that doing worth a cr@p (limits out every single time). I know he's in a boat but I wonder what general area he is in because it seems like everyone else that posts anything about flounder is having some serious issues finding them. |
