				| Howdy!
After being in Colorado for the past 15 years I have the possible opportunity to transfer to San Antonio where I grew up. My folks had a beach house in Port A when I was growing up and have fished the area since the early 60's (yep, I'm older).

I'm looking to buy a boat when/if I get to SA. My parameters are:

Easy length to trailer 17-20 ft.
 Center console
Boat that can fish the bay's 70% and go offshore several miles (conditions permitting)
 No frills fishing boat
 Used
I love to wade fish so super shallow draft (flats boat) is not that important to me
Budget $10K to $15K (would like to stay closer to $10K)

I have researched Whalers, Mako's, Pro-Line's, Cape Horn's and many more. My buddy had a 17' Mako, which I loved, that we would take 20+ offshore as teenagers. However, we were youngsters and were more worried about how many beers we had as opposed to how many life jackets (yea..I know..not too smart).

I thought I would throw this out to this group as I have learned an incredible amount on other topics on this forum.

 Thanks!

				| Try the Shallow Sport Mod. V. More traditional hull design. Great inshore and good offshore. | |

				| A whaler or a pathfinder both are great boats. I have been in both in 4-6 and they handled it. It was not fun but we managed getting home safely. | |

				| take a look at the aquasports. the 170 or the 19.6 are excellent boats. they both run in 9" and will take 2-4' offshore like it was made for it. but good luck finding one outside of florida

				| You might want to consider a Sea Hunt. They seem to be well suited for both inshore and offshore. Of course you won't get real shallow or handle the big swells offshore, but it will be a compromise. Look at the BX series of boats. _________________

Nice choice. Those whalers have the fuel tank built into the hull, no? Its a nice feature as apposed to the tank under the seat as seen in other whalers (bigger tanks capacity and frees up storage) but I've heard stories of the floor above the tank rotting. Its one of the things you should look for when you find a potential boat.
