This was a fun build, Kurt Weber came to my shop and handed me the butt section and a can of Lone Star. He said "I want this rod to match this can.... Nothing bling just "old school/vintage".
He found a old fiberglass rod that needed to be stripped and refinish. I had the forend built by Pat(Thank You!)and wrapped the rod with Bullard Gold and Guderod 326 Scarlet Red. Kurt found a new Penn Jigmaster and we paired them up.... I like the old school wood and look...

YEAH!!!!
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! : Very Happy
tapes out at 8-11.... spool is 24in from the old vintage rubber butt....here's the deal... couple yrs ago I got a nice wooden handle and seat off ebay... it sat around in the truck toolbox awhile....
remembered I had an old 8ft cheapo Cabelas catfish rod... thought a Jigmaster might work on it....
so I sniped ebay till I found the right reel... Cool
drove over to Buddaheads w/a cold wet can and the parts....
he lathed out the fore-grip from birds-eye maple...
wrapped that old glass into a vintage outfit and while my back was turned, mounted the Jigster...
it may not cast as far as the new stuff, but it'll be the sexiest rig around.....
Laughing

Very nice job! I have an old rod I need rebuilt too. Nothing fancy about it but it's the rod I used growing up. Caught lots and lots of fish with it.

Super clean build on the rod!!!

The Jigmaster looks like it has the special anniversary red annodized spool too - very hard to find - bonus. Even better if it has the high ratio gears.

Here's a Lone Star beer to ya! You need to take it out next year on the Corpus Fishing Offshore trip.

Beautiful rod. I had three uncles all retired from the Lone Star brewery. It would bring tears to their eyes.
