Just a heads up to those that might be interested. The Olympus hull is departing Kiewit and making its way through the jetties this Saturday. I will get a more definite time as the date approaches.

We saw it before lunch as we were going by the ship channel. Where is it going to be stationed, and what oil company owns it? It sure was moving slow, but as said, it is a lot of iron.

It will be towed to the Mars B project about 130 miles south of New Orleans. Shell is the principal owner, with 71.5 percent, and BP has the remaining shares.

It helps to know these things when you are associated with the big whigs of the industry. Barring that, it helps to read the accompanying links of the original post. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Going through the jetties as I type...

Judging by the abnormally high number of ships parked out front it also affected port traffic...

Couple pics as it cruised by

Out of the channel...

we just happened to be in Port A when Pompano went out...
92 I think...
laying on it's side it was 400' high and 1200 ft long...
they layed that rascal on a dang big barge and had a couple massive tugs out front and one on the back holding a tight rein.
