| Let me start off by saying that I am glad that law abiding citizens can legally load their shotguns and rifles into their boat and enjoy hunting the coast. However, spoil island target practice in the flats and shamrock cove may not be the best practice. I just received a reliable report that the weekend before the 4th, a buddy and some friends and family heard some shots, ricochets, and bullet splashes. Over 25 shots fired, and too many ricochets and bullets splashes for comfort. Know your backstop before firing a rifle or pistol. That includes shotgun slugs for you ever critical 2coolers. For shotguns, know your range and dont pepper other boats. Let's not get the law makers involved. I dont want a bunch of new laws passed regarding firearm use, we just need to be safe. Everybody was ok! However, this type of unsafe practice should be reported to the local police and game wardens. None of the local law enforcement seemed to concerned. I know that game wardens take unsafe firearm discharge seriously. |

This past April I was kayaking and had to wait on the water seeking cover behind a duck blind due to a target shooter! A high powered deer rifle was being used just off 361 before the ferry crossing in Aransas. We heard the bullets go through the brush. Police just let him know he couldn't do that within city limits and he went on his way. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot.
