Set up on Mustang Is at about the 48 marker at 8am this 4th of July. Meant to get there sooner but overslept. Caught a few medium whiting and one sand trout. Water was dirty but waves were one foot maybe two. No fresh seaweed but tons of dead grass. Tried wade gut, over first bar, over second bar all full of dead grass. Current going south was strong enough you needed a spider weight but that just compounded the dead grass problem. Missed some hookups I think to dead grass on weight, leader or hook. Left a bit after 10am when holiday crowd starting getting shoulder to shoulder.
