I haven't been fishin in a while due to long hrs of work and lack of sleep. But on the mornin of the 25th, you know what time is !!!!! Brown tide, Black tide, Red tide, or Orange tide I'm gna be out there hunting for STAR tournament worthy fish. I plan on fishin way back in the "Back Bay" !!! I know there is still some pretty green water over some of my favorite deep reefs. So if anyone wants to team up and go fish the Nueces pretty hard starting on the 25th let me know and we can make some plans. I'll be primarily throwing plugs, but I may pick up some croaker as well.

You will find some good water back there, and probably some good fish. Good luck & have fun.

And croaker! Super old school! By the way.....the water in Nueces is dookie brown all the way to the back. Very Happy

Unless you're talking about the perpetual algae bloom in the river that keeps it green year round.

Idk where your gettin ur info from. But I have been talkin with a lot of my Portland buddies that guide year round in Nueces and the water is a nice dark green. All that "dookie brown" water that u talk about is in the bluff.

It's green if you can catch it when it's fairly calm, once the wind gets over 10mph it is "dookie brown" but it's NOT brown tide.

It's green enough up front with a strong incoming tide. Also way back, it is clearest on the north side starting almost a mile east of white point and staying fairly clear on the north side of the shell banks to white point. I have not rounded the corner into Odem, but I did hear that the water is ok on the south side when it is calm from the river on back. Good luck and we are looking for that one big trout, just like 1000 other skilled fishermen! I hope you get the one your looking for and cannot wait for the report! Very Happy I almost forgot to add, "Have a great vacation." You deserve it after putting in all those long hours at work! Wink Smile

Thanks GT, yea I look forward to gettin back there and finding that 1 BIG TROUT !!! I grew up in Portland and I have caught plenty of nice solid trout over 29". I'm gettin pumped up to get back there. I think I'm gonna start on the 2nd high lines and then work my way all the way back past center reef to the river. I have a nice flounder hole back there as well. And your info on the water clarity is most helpful as well. Are you gna be fishin at all next week ??

good luck RL I love nueces. Don't know why I don't fish it more often?

Hey TD15! what do you do on the bay? 30 hours a week is a lot of time. run traps or lines or check wells? just curious. that much time on the water and your info is likely good. thanks
doc

we've been hammering the reds for the least month or so. I have caught some trout buy nothing to brag about. We started getting into some nice upper shoot reds today. A far a the water, there's plenty of pretty, fishable water. If you need a partner to hammer then, i wouldn't mind joining you and showing you were i've been finding them.
