I took the kids to the harbor to catch some mangroves and got a surprise. The smacks were in the harbor thick! We must have caught a dozen or so in no time but only kept four. We also caught a small spade fish and a grouper. I don't know the species of the grouper but I'm guessing black? It was about 10" and I threw it back without thinking to get a picture. Here are the smacks and mangroves.

Cool catches - and great eats. Reminds me of few years ago I caught smacks, a pompano and mangroves near A&M and NAS right in Corpus Christi Bay. I bet your kids had an blast - good job dad. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
