Arrived at the beach around 830AM waiting for Poolio to get there....

Found several other vehicles there...didnt think anybody else was going but oh well..

poo showed up and we loaded up to launch!

The surf was kickass and the day was beautiful!

on the paddle out i snagged a smack

As soon as i get to the rig i see Jakes balloon shoot under and hes hooked up on a king

I start to troll around the rig but it was all around pretty slow....at least for me ...jake seemed to have the hot hand today

He tosses out another live bait and it gets hit pretty quick by a nice cobia

Landing this sucker took a while but he got it done

I decided to paddle around the other rigs but it was slow....the first rig seemed to be holding most of the fish...

I met back up with jake and he was cool enough to lend me some live bait and balloons...

the first cast i left the bait on top of the water (forgot to drop and then tie a baloon)

I saw a big king come up and chase my bait on the top of the water...it eventually stole it

Jake got fresh baits and i rigged one up...8 feet of drop and i let myself drift away from it....and it didnt take long before something nails it!

"i guess im going for a slay ride!" i yelled to jake while the big fish took me away from the rig....it didnt go on a ripping run so it was either a cobia or shark and i was really hoping it wasnt a shark....

around 10 minutes pass and we still thinking cobia ...jake get a quick view of what it is and says king....i start thinking if its a king its a big one....

Finally get it to the kayak and sure enough its a Solid sized king by biggest to date

It came in around 53 to 54 inches long.....Jakes headed back (thanks for the bait and assist brotha!

I decided to use the bait i had and try to get rid of it....when i got back to the first rig 2 groups of BIG cobia showed up....6-8 in a group with some going 50-80lbs...BIG cobia...i woudl toss a bucktail with a eel and the smaller ones would follow but not bite....

After a while i decided to head back in and met back up with poo

im trolling 2 rattle traps behind me and just outside the beach it starts going off...

I get my first and fiesty cobia to the kayak just a smidge short of slot so off it goes...

Back on the beach and worn out from two Awesome BTB days....ill be looking for another window soon.....
Till Next time
Life is good

Congrats on that big king! I feel bad for leaving without giving you a sabiki to catch more bait. Thanks for taking the pics of me and my son! That was his first BTB trip and I'm glad you and Poolio were able to get some pics of it for me.

Nice job catching that cobia and sweet release of the one just undersized. Sometimes you just cannot get the big ones to bite, but my motto always was, if they stay on top long enough, they are mine! Smile That being said, it is much easier throwing everything including the kitchen sink when you are on a little bigger boat. Laughing Great report and pictures....Thanks!

Instead of doing a whole new report I just wanted to add a couple pics to this one. We actually caught 3 cobia but only one keeper at 44", the king was 40"
