Port Aransas
10 a.m.
Air temp: 68
Water temp: 65.8 (C.C. point 65.1)
Water color: A little less green than yesterday with 6/10 clarity
Waves: 2 to 3 ft. SE
Tides: high slack from 12:30 to 3:30 then falling
Tidal coefficient: 100 to 91
Birds: very few in the water
Bait: I saw some schools of finger mullet in the wade gut. Dust off your cast net and get ready to match the hatch!
My fishability rating: 6.5/10
I caught some nice smacks at the port a jetty yesterday. The water is still green so I expect them to be there again today. Just about any spoon or manolure type bait is working. Be careful not to use a leader that is too visible. They wouldn't hit black wire yesterday but silver piano wire and heavy mono was fine. I hoping it's only a matter of time before I hook in to a big jack. The water is too cold, for me, to wade in the surf without waders(sick of wearing them) so that's why I have been focusing on the jetties the past few weeks. But if you don't mind the cold water I think you should have a good day out there in the surf.
Good luck to all. |

Many thanks for your effort--myself, and I'm sure many other's are very appreciative.
