Report:
We fished 4 and a half days from March 16-21 and covered a lot of different areas from the Boat Hole south from the Middlegrounds to Twin Palms focusing on both the east and west shorelines. Trout to 25 inches along the power lines in the Boat Hole area with decent numbers of fish. Redfish thick on Gold spoons in the Boat Hole but primarily undersized. Sulphur flats and areas off Laguna Shores produced fish but 1 in 5 keepers with nothing over 22 inches although we focused little time in this area. Solid Trout from the Middle Grounds south to Twin Palms with Trout up to 27 inches and good numbers of solid keepers in the 22-25 inch range. The Troutman took a 10 fish Trout stringer on the final day that went 35 pounds from the Meadows. Fish caught south were primarily with live shrimp under a popping cork. Scattered Redfish in southern areas but nothing thick in terms of numbers. Bigger Trout on the spawn as you would catch three dink males and then catch one nice Sow, very consistent pattern over the time we fished. Trout are holding to grass lines and sand pot holes and wading worked well to stay on the holes. Overall good trip despite up and down weather.
PICS: My step-sons Nate and Garret Colwell pictured with a few samples of fish caught. |
