Hey everybody! So my name is Danny and I am from New Braunfels. I will be getting a small bonus in a few weeks. I have always wanted a Kayak but don't have that kind of money to buy a Hobie or some of those expensive brands like several of y'all have. Looking at some around the 500 dollar range. Yes I know you get what you pay for. But I know I won't be going BTB but just cruising the Laguna made in it. Remember I don't have a high end budget but could use something that would be enjoyable. First time yaker so i just want something that will be comfortable and safe. Thanks guys and gals. Academy or Dicks are grabbing my attention so far.

Perception pescador 12 foot is a good kayak for your price range. Exact same mold as a 2008 tarpon 120.

when they have them, you can find OK scramblers at Academy for $300. By the time you put a seat, getr a paddle, rod holder and a crate, you will be at right at your $500 mark

I have a Heritage sit on top 10' bought at Acedemy for 350 plus about 50 for the paddle. It works for the bay, but the down side is it slaps the water when it is windy. I would rather something a little longer but that also makes it more of a challenge to carry.
