"The origin of Texas generous state-water boundary goes back to 1836 when Sam Houston negotiated the point as a condition of statehood".
Thank God Sam Houston had the foresight to see all these crooked politicians and what could happen in the future. _________________ Common sense is not COMMON |

I sure wish ol' Sam was still here to change that. To at least 120 miles! |

If only Texas could stop the lunatics from blowing up abandoned rigs. Crazy that the feds want to reduce snapper seasons, yet kill tens of thousands blowing rigs |

| How does this play for party boats with a federal reef permit/license? Aren't they required to abide by fed rules |

Actually, Louisiana is extending their State waters out to about the same as Texas.

Rule-wise, it doesn't affect anyone with Federal reef fish or HMS permits as of yet, because Texas hasn't changed any regulations or attempted to expand it's State waters.
The only thing this does (or rather, will do if it happens) is basically cripple the headboat and charter-for-hire sector in Texas.
I'm out of the charter business now (private boat) but last year in a 40-something day season, we fished at least 35 days. Only a handful were in conditions I would go out as a weekend warrior.
As windy is it is, the proposed "punishment for Texas" 11 day season might mean the average guys with a boat can go once or twice, if you factor in weather/work/time/family/etc. _________________ I'd rather be fishing |

I was reminded the other day that the CCA recommended to the TP&W to
follow the Feds. on this when it first was introduced.
