Got invited by a member from TKF to go with him on a BTB out to the 1 mile rig by BHP. Wish me luck, going to post pics and a report on here when I get back. Meeting up with him at 9am. I still didn't get a chance to test out the yak but I couldn't pass up on this chance. Its going to be a true test for sure. Ya it has been 10yrs since I was last in a yak but it won't take long for me to get back into the groove of things.

Oh ya, I'm setup for safety. I got my PFD in the car ready to go with the rest of my gear, I got my safety flag and orange whistle as well. Got my paddle leashed and leashes for all my rods, and everything else is either tethered or floats. Have a waterproof bag for my cell phone and going to leave it in the hatch with my wallet and keys. When it comes to boating, I don't take any chances.

The latest cold front is currently on a line between Del Rio and Shreveport. Winds will increase the closer it gets to the coast. Surf sounds pretty quiet this morning.

I'll be going with makomark eventually. Hes the one who I got my kayak from.
I know I really wanted to go out Tuesday but didn't have anyone to go with me and I ain't going BTB by myself just yet. I did use the day to make sure I got everything done and double check everything.

You better be careful! That is a fairly short paddle to that rig but if your out there and notice the wind picking up it might be a very hard paddle back. Hope it works out for you. |
