So I'm sitting here sipping on a great cup of coffee and looking at the BACKYARD. It's almost slick calm, well it's calm in spots with light ripples on other spots. I'm not fishing today ( i want to ) but after a 6 day very stressful run at the base, I'm just chillin. I'll be glad when I retire. For years I have watched upper management do whatever it takes to cover their butts and in the process alot of good folks get crapped on. Working for the government in theses times can be really weird. Anyway my neighbor is headed down the beach for some surf fishing and I'm headed out for breakfast with the wife. Next weekend I will do some fishing as I have put in for Friday off. I should get with Ziacather and go after that big school of drum he saw, buuuuutttt I already told the wife I was hers for the day. Wink Maybe the board will get some good reports today. Maybe by next weekend the water will warm up a degree or two and get them fish to moving.

Lil red hunter if you ever come down this way let me know I will take you fishing if we can hook up.

Our favorite employer may be giving us the unpaid opportunity to fish an extra day each week for rest of the FY. The pay hit will suck, the weekday fishing will be nice. X2 on retirement...6 more years MAX

All the idiots have to do is knock off the overtime out there and all the other places that the Govt. works overtime. BUT NOOOOO, too many have based their lives on it. Are the people that sit in offices to stupid to figure that out? As for me I can dust off my welding machines and put the word out that IRONMANSTAN is welding again and I'm good.

I would have no problem doing that if I thought it would help my country. However you have hundreds that show up everyday out there and get paid for it and they do absolutly nothing in the form of work because they think it's owed to them. Now tell me I'm wrong about that statement. I could write a book about govt rip offs. However you can't do anything about it because that is the way the system works.

I dnt see us getting furloughed. But yeah we could fish a lot more, that's the 1st thing I thought of when I heard that rumor.. through the years the real good rumors and real bad rumors never seem to appear at wrk. Oh yeah I see it every day. Day in and day out people coming in to collect
A check and not do jack for it.. Also how about all those gs12-13 jobs that were created jus to have another middleman that dnt know anything about the job they are doing and coming up with stupid crap to do.. Aircraft production is such a headache.. no parts, no hardware, gotta catch up the aircraft after other shops over run hrs, then jump through hoops when the tour comes to town.. And now we have a gs13 who's never touched a bird telling us a better way to do all that..

#1 problem from DC to CCAD, ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!
If they shipped the Kelly AFB slackers out, the productivity would go up. Its the craziest place ive ever seen. Cant fire anyone for anything other than drugs or violence, b/c they will sue and get backpay, their job back, AND more. I know of a few pending federal court cases against CCAD b/c the guy couldnt do his job and was fired and he sued the base. Gonna suck when we loose Carlile, hes actually got business sense and gives a damn about the place. Cant say the same for the last guy. They hire people for jobs and they have no clue how to do their job or anything about it. Good example is our expediter/order guy in our shop. He was a security guard, and got hired in Tool and Die as our material expediter. He dont know the difference between 4140 and 4130 or what a endmill even is! So us toolmakers have to do his job for him b/c hes incompetent, which slows us down from machining tools.

Bite was slow all weekend, fished north, fished south, slow. Couple drum, couple trout, one U/S red. Was approaching a school of reds on saturday very slowly with no wind to really push the boat, was just out of casting range, and the damn wind switched 180* and pushed us back away from them. I was beyond frustrated, then 2 boats showed up. Oh well, raided the freezer and ate some flounder.

Not good news for the home team. The SA Express news reporting that CCAD will see a $799 million cut in spending due to the sequester of budget cuts.
