These partners in crime, Mary and Delilah.

And Dale and I

went to PINS this morning. Started around the 20

and as the day rolled on and the tides began rising we work our way north. At the 20 we only got a few whiting, 3 pomps and a small jack. Moved a few miles north and started catching loads of whiting and pomps. Then one of my poles starts to twitch and then bends over as if bowing to the fish gods of the surf. By the time I get to it, my reel is singing and the fight is on.

I wind up catching a nice 41" bull.

We then moved further north and here we started singing the blues. As in bluefish. We caught about 10 with most going from 19"-22".

The rod I caught the bull on starts bowing again and I asked Dale if he wanted to pull it in.

He fights...

and lands the 31.5" bull.

Just before leaving the beach we stop at the 2.5mm to play in the dunes. We spooked several deer on our trek there.

This last pic is a whole other story.

The dog by my truck was one we saw in the distance coming out of the dunes. At first we thought it was a coyote but the color was too dark. It started approaching us and we were unsure whether it was feral or not. We saw tags and a collar with its owners phone #. It had an area code that we didn't recognize and no cell service so was unable to call it. Was hoping for a park ranger to come by but no luck.

We see a suburban heading north and asked them if they would inform the ranger. Just so happens that they recognize the area code from Chicago. As they are leaving they are looking for Illinois plates. They see an SUV and asked the lady if she lost a dog. She said that her shepherd/collie mix saw some deer and chased them into the dunes and apparently got lost as she came out from the dunes a good mile from where she went in. End of long story, dog and owner were reunited, and they lived happily ever after.

Great that the dog got back to the owner! Glad you got more than we did but we were in trout mode and Billy and I had a wonderful time down island.
