Hiya!,

Anyone been to packery lately? What been bitting? Is the dredge out there? If so, has it effected fishing? Any info would be appreciated.

Went out early this morning at sunrise. Caught two keeper specks on the surfside within 30 mins and then it died for specks. There was a couple catching sheepies on the channel side, so i decided to 'monkey see - monkey do'. I didnt get the sheepie till I set about an 8ft drop from a float, then I got three in a matter of minutes. Then that front blew in and the north wind was strong and cold. I was in shorts and didnt take a jacket so we called it quits. The trout hit with about a 3-4ft drop in chest deep water on the surf. I fished with my dad this morning and could not remember the last time we fished together, more than 8 yrs or so, so today was a good day to start the new year.

We fished Packery from the concrete boat ramps on New Year's Eve for an hour or so before dusk. Wind picked up and temperature dropped, so that might have affected the fishing. All I got was a croaker. We got lots of nibbling bites.

The dredge was moored at the ramps, along with a big jon boat that effectively blocked fishing access for an entire half of the concrete platforms at the end of the ramps. Another commercial boat with a standup cabin tied up right in one of the ramps, which also blocked that for boats to use. Mad

Also, two large trash drums have been lock-n-chained to the railing right smack in the wider half of the walkway. The only purpose of that would be to block the walkway, which it did effectively.

Chaining the drums to the sign post at the end of the ramp wouldn't block the walkway. Duh!
